It’s all about health
The number of health benefits and nutritional
value you get from eating quinoa makes quinoa hard to ignore, or at least try
to incorporate this so-called “super food” into you’re diet.
Quinoa is a good source of fiber
and protein, and has a low glycemic index; an index used to measure how fast
foods raise blood sugar levels. Quinoa can also improve metabolic health, and
is filled with antioxidant that helps in fight aging and many diseases. All the
properties mentioned help aid diabetics including people who are looking to
loose weight and become healthier.
There are some risks associated
with eating quinoa that might not be suitable for all; you may not know quinoa
is suitable for you until you tried it. Quinoa is coated with a chemical
designed to protect the plant itself from fungi and bacteria in the growing
process called saponins, which is why quinoa must be rinsed with cold water
before you start with the cooking process. For some people, it may cause
stomach irritation causing upset stomachs and may damage the small intestine
according to a study done in Purdue University.
